What it can touch
Outbound to Tavily's cloud for search, extraction and crawling; queries and target URLs go to Tavily's servers and results return into the model context. The API key draws down your Tavily quota. No local file access.
Risk
Note the official remote config puts the API key in a URL query parameter (tavilyApiKey=...) — URLs leak into proxy logs, client config files and shell history, so key exposure is wider than with an environment variable; prefer OAuth or the local env-var setup. Search results are arbitrary third-party content, with the usual injection risk.
