Hermes Agent

Nous ResearchmacOS · Linux · Windows · Windows (WSL) · Android · CLI · Self-hosted (Docker / npm)

Open-source multi-channel agent: one gateway process serves 20+ messaging platforms, with built-in self-improving learning

Good for

  • One agent reachable from WeChat, WeCom, Feishu/Lark, WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Slack, email and more
  • A long-running background service (systemd / launchd / Task Scheduler) rather than an open terminal
  • Per-channel model and system-prompt overrides — one gateway, different persona per channel

Not for

  • Intel Macs — the official macOS bundle is Apple Silicon only
  • Anyone unwilling to touch a terminal and config.yaml
  • Enterprise procurement requiring a vendor SLA

We deliberately put “not for” on the same screen — a review that only lists strengths carries no information.

Pricing

Open sourceFree tier

The framework is open source and free; your cost is the model API you connect. Nous Research also sells a Portal subscription covering many models plus a Tool Gateway (web search, image generation, TTS, cloud browser), which removes per-tool key juggling.

Amounts not yet manually verified. The above is a qualitative description of the billing model — defer to the official site for numbers.
